Gig Review: Full Flower Moon Band at The Tivoli, Brisbane - Full Flower Moon Band sells out The Tivoli (18 July 2026)

The crowd was bouncing on the balls of their feet before anyone had even played a note. Everyone was there ready to pay attention and obviously knew anyone that Full Flower vetted were going to bring the house down.

Knee opened and made the slot count. The Brisbane three piece was everything you want from an opener, energetic and keen as hell to be there. They came in hard with a bass tone so filthy people were at risk of having their faces melted off. Mid set they hit a timing slip but they communicated quickly, found each other again and kept moving without letting the energy drop. The garage punk opener had the already busy venue moshing within minutes. If there's a pit for the opener, you know it's going to be a great gig.

Party Dozen came on as main support and seemed to floor the audience with the unique line up of only drums and saxophone. They somehow made two people feel like an entire band. The sax was making sounds saxophones have never made before. The sax doubling as a lead guitar and surprisingly, a microphone when Kirsty Tickle began singing into the bell. She played like breathing wasn't a requirement. The drummer, Jonathan Boulet, underneath was incredibly tight, letting the sax go completely unhinged. Their single "Special Unit" off the upcoming album landed hard live, and later a drum solo came with a light show that felt massive for a two piece.

Full Flower Moon Band opened with "Power" off Diesel Forever and the entire sold out room lifted. Luke Hanson was a machine on drums all night. The rhythm guitarists Caleb Widener and Christian Driscoll stayed locked, complimenting each other the entire set. Everyone looked seasoned and natural, the flow you get only from playing together for years.

The lights went through Beetlejuice greens and purple haze into the signature deep red. The stage design looked like if a snowflake and barbed wire had a baby. There is simply no other way to describe it.

Kate “Baby Shakes” Dillon mentioned how hard one of their older songs “Trainspotting” was to play but expressed that it was a necessary setlist choice to commemorate the evening. They rolled into "Sleep" and had the whole crowd singing. Then after a setlist misread went into "Baby" under purple lighting. A few lighters up, unfortunately not many due to the world take over of vapes, however its not a rock show without a few flint and steels. She had the room in her pocket the entire set. At one point Kate joked that the crowd was so locked in we were predicting the songs. "Man Hands" got the energy surging and the crowd chanting.

"New Rocket" was the night's peak. Red stage, crowd clapping and had the whole room feeling like the main character at once. This is the soundtrack to a rebellion. During "Don't Wanna Hurt No One" people were up on shoulders across the room. Kate looked genuinely heartfelt as she spoke about how grateful she was to look out and see so many friends. 

Then "NY-LA" came and everyone knew it was coming. "Brisbane, I said Brisbane, it's all the same to me. If everyone buys a ticket, we could play The Tivoli." The crowd screamed it back loud enough to nearly swallow the song. Hearing it inside The Tivoli itself gave the line a whole second life.

Marli Smales brought insane riffs to “Female Mechanical” on bass, outstanding stage presence while sitting so perfectly in the pocket. 

The band didn't even make it off stage before being begged for a final song. They ended the night with “Scene” and the 1500 cap Tivoli erupted into cheers.

Hypnosis Therapy was the after party and party they did. The Seoul duo, producer Jflow and rapper JJANGYOU, throwing electronic punk chaos at the room. Guttural screams into rapid fire rap, bedazzled megaphones, red glow sticks and silly string. 

People were still in the street after it ended, buzzing and in no rush to leave. Soaking up the last moments of a truly special night.
